OLDER BABY PHOTOGRAPHY

An older baby photoshoot is perfect for those with little ones that are between 6 weeks to six months. If you missed the newborn window (ideally 5-14 days, but can be up to 6 weeks old) then this session gives you the chance to capture your baby while they are still so little.

As your baby will be just out of the sleepy newborn phase they will most likely be awake for the duration which allows for some really lovely open-eyed shots. Your baby will be able to connect with me and my camera more which is a real bonus!

If your baby is starting to experiment with rolling over and wanting to move more I would suggest that you book a Sitter Session with me. We can book this for when your baby is around six months old, if they aren’t quite sitting unaided yet we can tweak the date for a few more weeks. If your baby is still happy lying on their back then an older baby session will be perfect!

I have a seamless work flow prepared for older babies so that they don’t become overtired, they are contented throughout and to ensure that I capture the images that you desire.

Josh & Daniel

My little boy loved interacting with Sarah and the portraits reflect this so well! I love how she captured his thoughtful moments as well as the big smiles. Sarah was also incredibly patient as he fed frequently during our time at the studio. I never felt rushed, Sarah provided a safe space for me to care for my son.

We will treasure the photographs of our little Grandson, they are just wonderful and show his personality perfectly. We are so pleased that you caught so many smiles and a few sneezes too!

Questions and answers

How long is an older baby photoshoot?

I allow 1-2 hours for an older baby portrait session.

Can my family members be included?

Absolutely, husbands/partners and siblings should be included in these photographs!

What should we wear?

A pre-session consultation is included in your session fee and I can provide guidance on what to wear. I also have some stunning dresses, simple shirts and blouses which you are welcome to borrow. Each client receives a preparation guide before their photoshoot which includes helpful detail about clothing choices.

Where is your studio?

The studio is based in High Barnet, North London. The full address is provided upon booking.

What do I need to bring to the photoshoot?

As soon as your prospective session date has been secured I will send you a “Preperation Guide’ which details everything you need to know plus reminders about what to bring along for you and your baby.

When will the images be ready?

Your fully edited images will be ready for viewing within 2-3 week of your session. I will contact you to arrange your in person viewing appointment or if preferred you viewing appointment can take place via Zoom.

When should we book?

If you know in advance you would prefer an older baby session to a newborn session then book in as soon as you can to secure a date.

When should the photoshoot be?

I think of this stage as from around 14 days to 12 weeks. The baby will have started to uncurl from when they were born and the hair on their head may look very different from when they were born. Their cheeks might be filling out a bit and they open their eyes a lot more.
